Huge achievement for Bowen. Have we ever had a British nominee before? I'm assuming Payet got one, not sure about Di Canio?

I'm with Tak. I loved Viera as a player and he's doing ok as a manager but how he could be seen as a bigger achiever than someone whose team will finish higher than his and get to a European semi is fucking laughable.

Re: The Premier League Player of the Season - Jarrod Bowen has been nominated
Bowen has improved and has had a great season but when you look at who isnā€™t on the list its still quite an achievement just to be nominated, yet Southgate still wonā€™t pick him for the England team? Perhaps if he was at the ā€œrightā€ club he wouldā€¦ā€¦..

the cynic in me also thinks both he and Ward-Prowse are their to make up the numbers and deflect criticism of big 6 bias in all matters football as neither is going to win.

We're not talking about what they needed, we're talking about the relative merits of a manager who has been given a proper warchest to spend, unprecedented at that club, and has taken them from mid table to mid table.

JWP is a one trick pony, no idea how he made this list. Rice destroys him in pretty much every department other than freekicks.

Re: The Premier League Player of the Season - Jarrod Bowen has been nominated
pdbis, yeah, but Vieira got to a semi-final in the cup!

Interesting, I know Nage loves a stat, looking at the transfer spending of the old gammon Woy, and the managerial genius Vieira.

Woy over his 3 seasons:

Total spend: Ā£37mil
Net spend: -Ā£30mil (MINUS!)

Vieira in his 1 season:

Total spend: Ā£77mil
Net spend: +Ā£77mil (PLUS!)

Well well well...

Unless I'm wrong Vierra has got around the same amount of points Roy got last season with Palace.

Are you sure he has been nominated because I have just been on the BBC football site and they only mention Salah and De Bruyne.

Re: The Premier League Player of the Season - Jarrod Bowen has been nominated
Bowen has no chance of winning. Heā€™d probably have a better chance at a top 6 side where heā€™d be lionized and drooled over by the media, not to mention a better supporting cast of players. Even so at least 2-3 ahead of him on that list.

Re: The Premier League Player of the Season - Jarrod Bowen has been nominated
Bowen has already ā€˜wonā€™ by being nominated. Thatā€™s an outstanding achievement and fully deserved after a great season. Hopefully heā€™ll be heavily involved in the England squad too and go to the World Cup, as thatā€™s also deserved.

You only have to look at the list of players who havenā€™t been nominated to see how well Bowen has done.

"They're hardly going to finish miles above what WOY achieved"

But they could finish with their best ever PL season by any metric - highest points total; highest position; most goals scored; fewest conceded, or it could be a pretty bog standard finish. Like I said - too early to tell.

Re: The Premier League Player of the Season - Jarrod Bowen has been nominated
My vote goes to Roy Hodgson :
1. Took a large amount of money out of Watford delivering 0 homes wins
2. Had a very stylish pair of sunglasses on the other week when they managed to lose to Burnley after leading after 85mins
3. When they got relegated at Palace he chatted and smiled with his old players. When he was asked why he didnt go over to the disappointed Watford fans he said ... 'well, they WERE a long way away'

Re: The Premier League Player of the Season - Jarrod Bowen has been nominated
Think VIEIRA has done a great job.
From a dull team with lots out of contract and totally dependent on Zaha to a much more entertaining team with Olise, Eze & Gallagher.
Lets see how the second season goes presumably without Gallagher
